Growing up I loved painting and all art work. My sister did too and we would play with my dad's box of art history pictures. Growing up I loved painting and all art work. My sister did too and we would play with my dad's box of art history pictures. My mother did watercolors and sewed beautiful clothes and my father was an architect. At U.C Davis my major was design and then I went on to study architecture in Italy. After 6 months of soaking up the masterpieces of Italy and finishing my studies, I returned home to the San Francisco Bay Area where I began painting. Drawn to the light, color and open space of the southwest, I moved to Arizona in 1999 and New Mexico in 2004 where I live now.
I learned watercolor and acrylic painting in high school from and In college did some oil painting. After college I began painting with acrylics again. Water based media dries quickly and it is easy to layer. Watercolor has a mind of it's own and can be paired with pen and ink lines for interesting effects.
I'm inspired by the play of light and color found in the natural world such as in flowers and landscapes. Portraits of people and pets are fun to do as well as urban scenes.
